ROOSEVELT ISLAND TRAM, NEW YORK, NY

TRAM (VON ROLL) - A 1976 Von Roll tramway built as a temporary commuting solution. The Tram was so
popular with commuters that even after the subway arrived in 1989 it was decided to keep the tram.
The cabins hold 125 passengers and the ride connects Manhatten at 59th street with Roosevelt Island.
In 2010 the tram was rebuilt by Poma reusing towers and other components but converting it to a bi-cable
for better stabality. Pictures of the new tram to come.
